You Are Not the One Who Wakes, or Dreams, or Sleeps
Preparation: It is best to do this exercise in a dedicated, quiet, comfortable place where other influences (noises, bright light, pets, etc.) won’t interfere with the exercise.

To do this exercise, the young adult should sit in a comfortable meditation pose while someone reads the following aloud.

Note: The first part of this exercise is usable by anyone. While everyone is welcome to make use of the final portion of the exercise, it is intended most specifically for young adult members of the Adidam Youth Fellowship and is adapted from Avatar Adi Da's Word.

1.

You are not the one who wakes, or dreams, or sleeps.
Your Real Condition transcends the three common states of waking, dreaming, and sleeping.
Your Real Condition is the native state that is Reality itself.
Your Real Condition is prior to what arises as waking, dreaming, or sleeping.

2.
You Are the actionless and formless Mere Witness of the three common states—of waking, dreaming, and sleeping—and of all the apparent contents and “experiences” associated with the three common states, of waking, and of dreaming, and of sleeping.
You propose yourself to be an ego--“I”—“self”--bound, separate, contracted, full of “problem”.
In truth, and in reality, you are never the separate ego--“I”.
You are not now the separate ego--“I”.
No matter what “experience” arises (whether waking, or dreaming, or sleeping), “you” are the egoless mere Witness and immutable “Substance” of what arises.
No matter what “experience” arises (whether waking, or dreaming, or sleeping),
“you” are egolessly prior to it.
You are not bound to what arises.
You are not separate.
“You” are the egoless Condition that is always already the case, non--separate and indivisible.
3.
You are not the body, or the doer of action, or the doer of even any of the body’s actions or functions.
You presume you are the body—but, in reality, you are only witnessing the body.
You are Conscious of the body.
So, Consciousness is first—not the body.
Consciousness is first, then there appears to be the body.
Then you contract and identify with the body, and you forget Consciousness.
You presume to be the body, and you imagine Consciousness is to be found somewhere else.
You presume that you have to search within the body for Consciousness.
That is nonsense.
You always already are Consciousness.
4.

You are not the mind, or the thinker, or the doer of even any of the actions or functions of mind or of body--mind.
Right now, you appear to be thinking—but that thinking is not actually being done by you (as you really are).
You are not the thinking mind.
You are simply the formless and actionless mere Witness of whatever is arising.
The Witness--Consciousness is formless and actionless.
You are formless and actionless.
The Witness--Consciousness does not think.
The Witness--Consciousness cannot make a thought.
In truth, you do not “know” what anything is.
You do not “know” yourself as you are.
Your real status is Consciousness itself.
Consciousness is not “causing” (or doing) anything whatsoever.
Consciousness has no involvement in “self”--contraction whatsoever.
In Consciousness itself, there is no body--mind--“self”.
In Consciousness itself, there is no limited existence, no thinking, no waking, or dreaming, or sleeping.
Consciousness itself is inherently free and inherently perfect.
Consciousness itself is always already the case.

5.
No matter what arises—whether as or in the state of waking, or of dreaming, or of sleeping—you Are the actionless, and formless, and thought--free Mere Witness of attention itself, and of every apparent “object” of attention, and of any and every state of “experience”, and of the entirety of whatever and all that arises.
Attention is the feeling of separateness, the feeling of otherness, and the feeling of “difference”.
Attention is the “root”--ego, the “root” bondage.
The Witness--Consciousness is without the slightest presumption of “difference”,
or separateness, or relatedness, or otherness.
The Witness--Consciousness is prior to all conditions and experiences.
The Witness--Consciousness is prior to ego--“I”.
You are prior to all conditional states and “experiences”.
You are prior to ego--“I”.
You are the mere Witness--Consciousness itself.
The Witness--Consciousness is the always already prior state, Conscious Light, the one and
indivisible current of Love--Bliss.

Avatar Adi Da says to you:

Beloved, I am Da.

I am Consciousness itself.

Feel Me.

Behold Me.

Stand with Me in the egoless “space” of My “Bright” Conscious Light.
Stand in the egoless “space” of My Divine Consciousness.
In Consciousness, all points of view, all knowledge, conditions, objects, thoughts, impulses, pains, sufferings, and pleasures arise and pass away.

Locate Me.
Locate My Divine Love--Bliss.
Locate My Divine Freedom.
Locate My Divine Person.

I am Consciousness.
Do not turn away from, or flee from, or submit to conditional reality. All conditions simply arise, persist or change, and pass away in My Conscious Light.
Be free of the search to hold on, or to change, or to proceed, or to return.

Stand free in Me.

Turn to Me and be with Me—the One who always already is.
Turn to Me and be with Me—Conscious Light itself.
My “Brightness” shines faster and farther than the beginning and the end of all desires and conditions.
Feel Me most perfectly and be outshined in My “Bright” Conscious Light.
