Preparation: It is best to do this exercise in a familiar, quiet, comfortable place where other influences (noises, bright light, pets, etc.) won’t interfere with the exercise.

Second stagers can choose either to sit in a comfortable meditation pose or lie on the floor while an adult reads aloud. Reading softly, slowly, with emphasis and quiet strength helps direct children into the exercise.

​

Note: The first part of this exercise is usable by anyone. While everyone is welcome to make use of the final portion of the exercise, it is intended most specifically for second stage members of the Adidam Youth Fellowship and is adapted from Avatar Adi Da's Word.

Can you feel the living energy that is flowing in you right now?

​

If you let yourself be very calm, you can feel that happy energy. Try it now.

​

Let go of all the wiggling and busy--ness of your day--to--day. Let go of your thinking about things and your “I gotta do its” and notice what there is when you are simply resting and full of breathing only.

​

Take time, right now, to let stillness wash over you. Float in the hush and the calm and the gentle breathing and see what you discover. See? When you are still, you are not just empty or bored, you are alive in the Mystery!

​

Feel the silent, living energy of the Mystery that is flowing all through your body, all through you and around you, inside and out.

 

Can you feel how happy it is?

​

Feel the happy energy of the Mystery that is alive in your heart and your face and your tummy and even your feet. Feel how the energy shines through your eyes and in your bones and all over your skin. Feel how the happy, living energy that is in you is all around you too.

​

The happy energy of the Mystery is part of everyone. The life--energy in you and around you is in and around everyone and even the whole world. That good feeling is in the Mystery. If you rest all calm and full of quiet and evenly breathing, you can feel it now. Let the happiness of the Mystery flow freely inside you and all around, up and down, inside and out to everyone everywhere. Let yourself float in the infinite happy energy of the Mystery.

Relax into the energy of the Mystery.

 

Now, imagine a light bulb going on, shining with light. What makes it shine? Electricity does! Electricity is an invisible energy that turns things on and makes them go. The living energy of the Mystery is a bit like that. The invisible, happy energy of the Mystery makes you alive. It is what makes you shine.

​

Just like electricity is an invisible current of energy we cannot see, the invisible energy of the Mystery is flowing in your body right now. You can’t see it, but you can feel it. You are alive as the living energy of the Mystery right now.

​

Let yourself sink deeper and deeper into the happy feeling of this invisible energy. 

 

Feel how you are alive in the happiness of the Mystery.

​

Relax your body.

Relax your mind by letting go of thoughts that come up.

Relax your heart to open.

Relax your breathing to be full and even.

Relax, and you will naturally feel the living energy of the Mystery flowing through you.

Relax more and deeper and fall into the happy stillness.

 

Breathe in the good stuff and breathe out the bad stuff.

Let your breathing be round and full and easy.

Let go of any unhappy feelings that come up.

Feel the love and happiness and energy of the Mystery in your heart and whole being.

 

While you relax, and breathe, and feel the life--force, ponder this:

Are you the one who is breathing you now?

Are you the one who is living you now?

Are you?

No, not really.

Who or What is Living and Breathing you?

The Mystery is!

The happy, more--than--wonderful Mystery is living you right now!
